About CozyGames
A catalog of cozy games, scored and sorted so they are easy to browse.
CozyGames is run by the CozyGames Team. We started it because relaxing games are genuinely hard to find: most game sites are organized around competitive shooters and big-budget RPGs, and there was no single place to see the gentle, low-pressure corner of gaming laid out in one view.
So we built one. We track cozy games on Steam, score each of them with the same published formula, and organize them into lists you can browse by platform, mood, and season. We also publish data studies on the catalog itself — what cozy games cost, how well they review, and how many ship each year.
We want to be straightforward about what this site is: a catalog and a scoring system, not a review publication. We do not post per-game critical reviews, and the score below is a formula, not an editorial verdict. Everything is free to browse, with no accounts and no paywalls.
What we do
- Track cozy games on Steam and record their price, platforms, release date, and review data.
- Score every game with the same published Cozy Score formula, so the ranking is reproducible rather than a matter of opinion.
- Organize the catalog into browsable lists by platform, mood, and season, sorted by Cozy Score, Steam rating, or release date.
- Publish data studies on the catalog, with the underlying numbers shown in each article.
- Keep everything free to use. No accounts, no paywalls, and no paid placements — a game's position in a list comes from the filters and the sort order, never from payment.
How the Cozy Score works
The Cozy Score is a number out of 100, and it is worth knowing exactly what goes into it. It is calculated from Steam data with a fixed formula — no manual adjustment:
- Steam positive review rate, at half weight. A game reviewed 90% positive contributes 45 points.
- Review count, one point per 100 reviews, capped at 30. This rewards games with a track record, but the cap means 3,000 reviews and 3 million reviews score the same here.
- A 5-point bonus if the game is free to play.
The total is rounded and capped at 100. Because review rate is halved and the review-count term is capped, a well-liked game with few reviews will usually score below a similarly-liked game that many people have played. That is a deliberate trade-off, and it is a limitation worth keeping in mind: the Cozy Score measures how well-reviewed and well-established a game is, not how cozy it felt to a particular player.

We analyze our own catalog and publish what we find, with the numbers included so you can check them:
- The Cozy Games Price Index — the median cozy game costs $5.99, the average $10.06, across 223 priced games.
- How well-reviewed cozy games really are — the average cozy game scores 91% positive on Steam across 2.77 million player reviews.
- The state of cozy game releases — releases in our catalog climbed from 15 in 2020 to a peak of 66 in 2024.
